Future Ready: AI in Teaching and Learning

The rise of generative AI presents myriad challenges and opportunities for universities. In this integrated workshop, we delve into the multifaceted impacts of new Gen AI tools on educational institutions. In this 3 part workshop, we will explore how these advancements influence the competencies we aim for students to develop and necessitate evolving assessment and teaching methodologies.

Part 1 - Curriculum and Skills. As Gen AI reshapes teaching methodologies and student learning processes, we must reimagine educational scenarios and adapt curricula accordingly. This entails considering implications across Humanities, Arts, Social Sciences (HASS), and STEM disciplines, focusing on graduate attributes such as analytical thinking, critical reasoning, and creativity.

Part 2 – Assessment. Moreover, as AI permeates academia, there's a pressing need to rethink assessment methodologies. The workshop addresses this need by examining the ethical use of AI in assessment, ensuring academic integrity, and accurately gauging student performance. Emphasis is placed on enhancing student engagement, accommodating diverse cohorts, and designing support systems tailored to different student needs.

Part 3- Leveraging AI in Teaching and Learning. Key to cultivating future-ready talents adapted to the AI era is evolving teaching methodologies and fostering AI-driven innovations. By showcasing exemplary cases of AI-enhanced teaching, the workshop explores strategies to inspire faculty to explore AI's potential in student learning.

Informal Senior Leaders' Catch-up

An opportunity for Senior Leaders to connect and catch-up informally.

External Challenges Facing Universities and their Impact on Internationalisation Agendas, Part 1 This session builds on conversations, held at the HKU AGM in April, about the role and future of universities. The aim is to provide an open and engaging platform for U21 Senior Leaders to share experiences and learnings from across the network. A panel will initiate the discussion with insights on a range of external challenges facing universities now. The session will (a) focus on strategies that have been successful in addressing some of these challenges and (b) identify any other pertinent and emerging issues across the network.
